Below you will find a small collection of scanner related links. I know there are a LOT more out there than I have listed below. I have other's that I have not listed, and will when I get the chance. If you know of any scanner sites that would be useful to other visitors, please email me the URL and I will put it up as soon as I can.

The digital scanners by Uniden (BC785D & BC250D) CAN NOT TrunkTrack the APCO 25 standard that is in use in the following areas: The states of Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, the counties of Hennepin, Minnesota and Henrico, Virginia, and the cities of Austin, Texas and Minneapolis, Minnesota! I'm sure there are other places as well, however these are the ones I know currently know about. These areas use the APCO 25 full digital communications standard of 9600-baud trunking. The digital signals can be still be decoded, and heard, with the above listed Uniden scanners (and the optional Digital Ad-on Card,) don't misunderstand this! The problem is that each frequency will have to be programmed into the scanner and scanned in the conventional (Non-Trunking) manor. The scanners can not TrunkTrack the system because of the faster baud rate.

There IS some good news, however. The Radio Shack (GRE) PRO-96 Digital Scanner, along with Uniden's second generation (and beyond) of digital scanners (BC296D & BC796D), WILL fill this void for those of us who are lucky enough to live in one of these areas. There is an exception with the PRO-96, however. See the Old News section below for more details.

** There is a software update for the Radio Shack PRO-96 to allow it to receive the other form of modulation used in states like Minnesota (CQPSK). Click the link at the end of the paragraph, find the listing for the PRO-96 (catalog #200-0526), and download both the Instructions (.PDF file) and the Update (.EXE file). LINK: Software Update **

Uniden is currently shipping their second generation of digital scanners. These are the BC796D (Base) and the BC296D (Handheld). Pictures, Owners Manuals, and a scan of the brochure can be found below. Each unit comes with the digital card, and are finally be able to TrunkTrack the 9600 Baud systems! The units look exactly like their first generation counterparts.
